Reverend Gudrun Thomas - Governors Profile

Reverend Gudrun Thomas

I began training to be a vicar in 2017 prior to that I had been a primary teacher for 20 years in both a village school and a large primary school I Exeter. During my time in the larger school I was on the senior leadership team, first as the year 6 year leader and then as the SENCO which involved also managing a team of 20 Teaching assistants.

I left teaching in 2011 to become the children and families outreach worker for a church in Alphington on the edge of Exeter. This maintained my links with two local primary schools where I ran a lunch club in each school, and I led assemblies each half term.

I felt called to train as a vicar in 2017 which then led me here to Uffculme in July 2019.

Away from churchwork I love running and supporting Exeter City and I am mum to my two boys.

I may have left teaching but teaching hasn’t left me and my passion for the education of youngsters is no less that it was when I began teaching. I love being back in the school environment and I shall endeavour to support the school and its connections in the best ways I can as a community governor.
